Hey fellas, you probably already know about this but a hair dryer can make quick and easy work out of removing tape labels or velcro from pedals or products with annoying labels on them. The heat softens up the adhesive and it comes off cleanly.

Good idea. Makes sense. And, that's a tool that's readily available. A little rubbing alcohol can get the last little bit off if needed too.
Thanks.

Good idea. Follow up with "Goo Gone" for the sticky bits left. Works like a charm and is safe even on nitro finishes.

Great thinking as usual Dave. I’ve used acetone before and unfortunately it removed everything, finish and all…

Great thinking as usual Dave. I’ve used acetone before and unfortunately it removed everything, finish and all… I used to work in a factory that made brads, nails, and staples for nail guns and the like. We used to wash our hands in that stuff to get the glue off. Your hands would look white as sheet. We would have open 5 gallon buckets of that stuff all over the place and smoke around them. What a hell hole, and I worked there for 5 years. Might add that the pay was barely survival rate.

Great thinking as usual Dave. I’ve used acetone before and unfortunately it removed everything, finish and all… I once had a mid '80s made in Japan Squier Strat that had yellow tiger stripes painted on the body and then black sprayed over that. I removed it with a couple of bottles of acetone fingernail polish and a few old socks. The DIY paint job wiped right of and the original polyester finish was left intact and shiny! Boy, did it dry out my hands!

My dad had a source for MEK that we used to clean parts. We were soaked with that formula. My dad had Prostate cancer and I did as well. I have often wondered if that might have been the cause.

And the opposite is true: When applying Velcro, use a hair dryer to heat up the glue before applying. It seems to help it adhere better.

Wait - how do you have an extra hand to remove the Velcro when you’re using a a hair dryer? 🤣🤣

I was paired up with an older guy. Our job was to treat in-process springs in various ways. The one I remember used cyanide to remove a coating that protected the spring while it was being made. We had 55-gal. drums of that sh** all over the place. And the fumes,,, All pre-OSHA of course.
