Anyone using this unit with the Wreck?
I picked one up today and I really like it. The DB4 also really sounds good with it. Going to dial up a few alnico cab rigs for FOH use as well. If I can get the rigs to sound close to the real deal in a powered speaker, I might have to try just using the FX in the OX to a powered wedge with no 2x12. I really only need reverb and delay once in a while. The room sounds are great and that plate reverb is awesome.
Running the Wreck at 11 o'clock down 1 click sounds pretty good to me with the 2x12. Might just need a tuner and the Timmy if I can get the powered wedge to sound reasonable.

I've been using an OX for 3 or 4 years. Every amp sounds better Congrats on your success.

I'm another Ox Fan using it with my Ghia and Maz Jr. Most of the time, I'm using it for recording since I've only been gigging about once/year.
I've used it twice right into the mains without a live speaker on stage. On the first gig, my sound was coming from our stage monitors. On this past gig, we went with a silent stage using the Aviom system. Based on the recordings and feedback, my guitar sounded pretty good.
I've also used it by running an open back greenback model directly to the PA with my Maz Jr's greenback providing our onstage sound with great results.
For recording, I have to say that the room mics provide the secret sauce to produce a great feel. (That's using the room mics along with direct speaker mics.)

I have used the Ox on a Wreck and DB4 and been very happy with them. I would say that your wedge may have unintended results due to the different response, however. If you EQ for the wedge, it could affect the sound to the board.
I’ve been happy with a 2x12 Avatar with Alnico Blues and a Z 1x12 with a creamback.

If I keep it I will have to set the amp silent on stage and listen to FOH to make sure it's good. My wedge did not have the response I was hopping for...lol.

I probably should have mentioned I was using in-ears with both the silent stage setup and using a monitor. In the monitor situation, an x-y stereo mic pair were my ears. I think the monitor setup would definitely feel different vs a guitar cab in a regular stage setup where you're actually just using your ears.
For FOH, the Ox has been very good for me.
I'll share one thing that I learned. Initially, I was spending time trying to replicate my live and studio setup with speaker and mics. One day it dawned on me that the UA engineers are probably (well, definitely) more skilled than I am. So, I started dialing up their presets and found their sound was a much better place to start.

FWIW — in using a Kemper (I’ve not used an Ox Box) live, I run the Kemper mains to FOH, then run the Mon out to my onstage monitor, which is a 1x12 Thiele cab with a Celestion F12-X200 “frfr” speaker. The mon is powered by my Powerstation.
That way both FOH and stage get the same “emulation” but I have “amp feel” onstage. We use in-ears, but I don’t like monitoring guitar too much in those - they are mainly for vocals.

Took the OX back and picked up a Brakelite and an e906. The Brake is way more useful as far as reduction levels, sounds better, and is way smaller. The E906 is easy to get a good sound with and no stand needed. The OX was very cool but overkill for my goals, and I need a more flexible attenuator.
All that said, the bakelite sounds really good with the Wreck, (and the DB4). The wreck at 11 o'clock attenuated is better than at 9 o'clock no attenuator. YMMV, but I'm very happy now.

Man! I guess I’m too much of an Ox fan. I found myself disappointed reading your post about sending it back. That’s kind of funny. 😎
Can’t argue that your new setup makes sense for you. I’m still planning on using my airbrake where the ox is maybe overkill.
Enjoy that Tone!

I’m still planning on using my airbrake where the ox is maybe overkill. Enjoy that Tone! I would have kept it, but I was hit with an unexpected Tax bill! So I opted for a much more realistic solution. I absolutely could see getting one down the road for the silent recording aspect, and maybe FOH use. I'm not doing very many gigs right now and at 54 the market for Dad bands is drying up. No matter how good the band is... I needed an attenuator with some useable range pretty bad... I love the Wreck in the sweet spot, but my ears are paying the price.
