I’ve never had a guitar in the traditional tele style. I had two G&L ASAT’s. One Special and one Deluxe. I was on the hunt for a traditional style tele type and decided to try one of the Sire Larry Carlton T7’s. This, imo, is an incredible bargain at a street price of $599. I did a little better. Neck carve fits me well, frets are nicely finished, fretboard is very nice, electronics I find to be of good quality. Now I understand why the tele is so special. What a great versatile instrument. Why it took me so long, I don’t know. Has anyone tried any of Sire’s other offerings?

I've never tried (or seen) a Sire. Like many, it took me many years to find my "lightbulb" T-style. It was a Riggio Tango. Enjoy the new guitar.

I've never tried (or seen) a Sire. Like many, it took me many years to find my "lightbulb" T-style. It was a Riggio Tango. Enjoy the new guitar. First learned of Sire in a hunt for a bass guitar. They made a Marcus Miller endorsed instrument. It was offered by Chicago Music Exchange and had great reviews. It was hard to acquire as it sold out quickly when in stock. I eventually bought a Lakland. Then last several months I discovered they have two tele styles, a strat type, 335, and Les Paul copies. They have received equally positive reviews. So I took a shot. I’m glad I did. Headstock is an acquired taste, but I don’t play the headstock.

I have a Sire L7 (les Paul style) and a 5 string bass. I did a pretty long video comparing the L7 with a LP custom and standard. My general thought is like you said, fantastic bang for buck. Fretwork is great, nut really well done, love the locking tuners. I originally got it because I wanted an EMG LP and planned on putting those in, but still haven't. Funny enough, was looking at that again this morning and am not sure what pot length I need so I have to take one out and look at it. Also note that I bought it from Andertons in UK and it was cheaper even with the crazy shipping. I think it was $520 all in. Caveat is if you don't like it, you have to pay crazy shipping to send it back. Love the orange tele, looks really cool. And yes, tele's can kind of do anything and are pretty special. The video - my takeaway is that by the time you run the instruments into the same filter of whatever the mics sound like, they sound more similar that it really does in the room. The other part is that you have some sound in your head about how a certain riff is supposed to sound, and you kind of play each instrument a little differently to achieve the result, and you just can't help that. Put those 2 together and the sameness of the result multiplies. But, I think it's a really good guitar, particularly at a fraction of the price. Also note the ribbon on the ribbon mic was a little screwed up (since had it fixed by Royer). That's another story.

I just ordered a white L7 which should be here next week. I was jonesing, badly, for a Gibby but just couldn't justify the price for a guitar that goes into a stable of 10-11 as it is (i.e., it won't be my #1). The reviews on the Sire's have been uniformly excellent, and Adam's fantastic video (dude doesn't know how to make a bad video) put me over the top. All the usual dealers are out of stock, and some of them have already increased the advertised prices.
Interesting tidbit -- I ordered direct from the Sire site. $705 out the door for the white L7, no shipping, and no tax (don't ask me to explain that). Many of the used ones are commanding over that when shipping and tax are added.
Will report back after getting it and playing a bit.

The L7 arrived yesterday. Of course it’s just out of the box, but I will say the only other guitar I have that came so “ready to play” out of the box is my PRS. It was packed great, strung with Ernie Ball Slinky’s (10-46, I’ll change these to 9-42 soon), relief and intonation were spot on. And while they did detune for shipping, it was almost a perfect step down across all strings (i.e., it was close to in tune a step down). Plays very, very nicely. Neck is thicker than my PRS McCarty, but not a 50’s neck at all. Fit and finish are crazy good - at any price point and at THIS price point it’s ridiculously good. The rounded edges make the fingerboard and frets feel smooth and easy. No buzzing on any frets. Pickups are good but first impression is the bridge is a bit bright - but haven’t put in enough time with them to be sure. The descriptions of the Sire-custom pickups is that they are paf-like, bridge doesn’t strike me that way initially but we’ll see. Could not be more pleased out of the box with this guitar. As I mentioned, I was fairly obsessed with getting a Gibson (likely a 50’s standard) but I cannot image how the Gibby is 4x better than this Sire (other than the nameplate). I think Sire is really on to something.
