Hi! Just got a Cure and I’m a bit confused by the external speaker jack. Am I able to run the internal and external cab at the same time?? If so , what Ohm should the external cab be? Thanks!!

You always need a speaker plugged into the internal jack. So if you are only running to an extension cab make sure you're plugged into that. Otherwise, yes you can run the 112 in the cab and an additional cab at the same time. It's been a while since I had my Cure, so even though I'm pretty sure I know the answer I'm going to suggest you check what the actual manual says. drzamps.com/manuals/

Looks like an 8ohm external cab?

From the manual:
External Speaker Jack: Plug in an 8 Ohm external speaker here. Wired in parallel for a 4 Ohm total load.
Internal Speaker Jack: Plug in supplied 8 Ohm Z12 speaker in here. Always have a speaker plugged into the amp when it is powered on. Always match a 8 Ohm speaker with this output jack. This will allow the amp to sound its best and avoid damage.
So, it sounds to me like plugging into the "external" jack enables a 4-ohm tap from the output transformer (paralleled to both the "external" and "internal" jacks). Whereas NOT plugging into the "external" jack keeps it as an 8-ohm tap to the "internal" jack. I would expect this means you can do any one of the following:
With nothing plugged into the "external" jack: • 8-ohm internal speaker only into the "internal" jack • 8-ohm external speaker cab into the "internal" jack (internal speaker disconnected)
Using the "external" jack: • 8-ohm internal speaker + 8-ohm external cab • 4-ohm external speaker cab (with nothing plugged into the "internal" jack)

Thanks Mark. Looking to try this option
Using the "external" jack: • 8-ohm internal speaker + 8-ohm external cab
I play in a 3 piece where I’m the only guitar player.I have a Dr. Z 1x12 convertible with an 8ohm Creamback.I plan on throwing it over on the bass player’s side while I have the Cure combo on mine. Sounds like I can get a nice sound spread with this configuration.

I ran an external cab at church for years at the other end of the stage. Cab had a 8 ohm cannabis Rex in it and really sounded great paired with the stock 8 ohm z12.
What you want is another 8ohm speaker for the ext jack
