I am hoping it's OK to post to this thread still.....maybe no one will see / read it! Well here goes! A few things have transpired since my last post. I have started the William Leavitt guitar method published by Berkley Press, this includes 14 hrs. of video instrution. Well, because of this, I am not able to avoid bringing the computer into my guitar practice, I need the computer to view the videos! So, I am more open to utilizing more tech into my guitar practice. Recently I was given an old cassette player and some tapes, and I thought-this will be perfect! Well the old machine wouldn't function due to a stretched out drive belt. So I went ahead, against my better judgment and all the good Z-Talk advice, and purchased a new one. Yes a new one. These cassette players sound OK for pre-recorded instructional material. But that is all! The sound quality is really bad. And recording a guitar practice and playing it back, is frustrating. Positioning the cassette player optimally for recording is not gonna happen! No matter where you place the device matters as there is so much internal machine noise being recorded! So, my No-Tech is probably a little too reactionary. But for sure, cassette player Low-Tech is very, very bad!

Yeah, old low tech isn’t so good. Good news is the new low tech is much better. Though people complain about the sound from a cell phone, you can record ideas with a voice memo app which could be one already on your phone. Garage Band can be loaded on your phone (probably). I have, but haven’t used it. I guess I’m kinda lazy and just play. Play to nothing, play along to recorded music I like, or grab a song book to learn the chords and changes and then fake my way through it. Just like when I started around 50 years ago. Right now, and mostly all my playing, has always been to have fun. Sure when I was a youth I had dreams, but the reality never matched them. ME
