I'm this close to grabbing a Jetta.
A couple questions, interested to hear your experiences...
1. I read where Doc said that the Jetta uses only half of v1 for the preamp. Given that, does the Jetta respond to changing the v1 tube to get different tones like other amps do? Would love to see what a NOS Mullard would sound like versus an RCA 7025 or even an Ei, etc. Or is it more the case that you just get what you get with the Jetta because so much of its character comes from the power section and not so much from the front end?
2. Sorta related to #1 - how does the Jetta respond to boost pedals to hit the front end a little harder? Does the preamp still respond to boosts similar to other amps?

Its going to respond to tube change like other Z amps. My experience though is its tuff to better what Z designs around, but you might find a flavor you prefer in either v1 or v2.
The Jetta is a fire breather with a good boost! I took my Jetta and an Analogman Prince of Tone to an outdoor bar jam, had it good and loud and man I was getting howling feedback on my Strat lol. The Jetta is a bad boy when you get it cooking.

Lot's of vintage amps only use one half of the first 12ax7 per channel. Fenders, the classic marshall's, most are only one gain stage on that first tube. The second half is typically divided between the "normal" and "bright" channels on a Marshall, and the "normal" and "vibrato" channels on a Fender. The fact the Jetta only has a two gain stages will make changing the first preamp even more noticeable than most amps.

I’m a long time player and I don’t think I knew that about how Marshall and Fender preamps work. I guess I was more concerned with trying to play the dang guitar . Looking forward to getting my hands on a Jetta.

I can't speak to tube rolling in V1 or V2 but I can tell you the Jetta inhales boosts and drives and spits flames out of the speaker!
