I exclusively played a Z28 for years, I know that amp like the back of my hand. I did end up switching to the Z-Plus, but the Z28 is legendary and IMO one of the best amps ever made. I always miss things about it. Today I finally got to play the Z28 MK II for over an hour and I can tell you with certainty that this is a better sounding amp than the original Z28... that is a crazy sentence for me to type!!! I'm ordering the head tomorrow. I don't care if he charged $3,000 for the head, I would still pay it. Even if he charged $4,000 for the head, I would pay that too! I don't know what exactly makes it so much nicer sounding than the original Z28, I think part of it is that it's cathode biased instead of fixed bias like the original? I don't know. But if you're reading this, you HAVE to go try one at the very least. If you're on the fence, just get it. Doc has never put out a bad amp, they're all good, some of them great, but the Z28 MK II is very special. Folks, this is not just another cool amp, this is one of the all time greats. More people should be talking about this amp! Believe the hype... I haven't been this excited and inspired by a guitar or amp in years, I think I'm in love hahaha

Not been a Z player until the Z28 mkii. I’ve tried a few of his offerings but this amp floors me. I’ve owned many wonderful amps but this fits my style best. Aside from the great tone and feel the cab in the combo works so well. The amp emits sound all around. Wonderful experience.

All I can say is just wait until you gig it. It cuts through anything including Concrete, Marble, Steel, and all other obstacles. It's just a players dream amp.

Whatever Dr. Z amp I'm currently plugged into is the best sounding amp ever! But that's just my experience.

Yup, this really might be as good as it gets. I used to think that of the Z-Plus (and I'm not getting rid of my Z-Plus, I love it too much) but that EF86 front end is magical. It's such a different sound than a 12AX7. The guy at the store even let me use my little Swart fuzzyboost and my jaw hit the floor. I know it's cliché at this point but it's like going from a crappy old TV to high definition, but it still sounds sweet and beautiful, there is no harshness or ugliness at all. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this amp. I've been texting and emailing people about it because it's THAT good

This amp loves fuzz pedals and boosts and they play perfectly with it. Just use your tone controls on your guitar and you have a wealth of note definition and articulation its a very pure organic tone.

Funny… after a month of playing purely on the z28 mkii, I plugged into the zwreckjr. Amazing. Like jumping from rich chocolate to pure strawberry… both amazing.

I hope more people get to experience this amplifier. It really is the best amp I've ever played, bar none. And gigging it is pure joy; It cuts through without ever being harsh, it just sings sweeter as you turn it up for solos.
It really is an experience...and like Jimi sang, "Oh, but ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? Have you ever been EXPERIENCED? Well, I have..."
Anyone reading this who hasn't played one, do it before you waste money buying an inferior amp. You'll never go back.

My problem is that I can't buy a Z-28 MK II and keep my Z Wreck Jr. And my Cure. And my Monza. And the several other awesome amps that I own. I'd consider selling something, but the local market is tough!
