I just received a new Iron Man Mini and am wanting to use it with my Wreck. BTW: I'm still using my old Wreck #12 and it sounds fantastic.
So...The Iron Man is 8ohm only. The Wreck cab is 16 ohms. The Wreck amp has options for 4, 8 or 16 ohm cabs.
Which speaker out option is the best choice to put the Iron Man between the amp and the cab? I'm thinking the 8. Or should I just get another attenuator that has a 16 ohm option?
thanks for the input!

I'd use the 8. The amp will more so "see" 8 ohms from the ironman--unless it's in complete bypass mode, in which case the amp will "see" 16 ohms... which is still a safe mismatch into the 8-ohm output.

Check the manual. My Captor X is 16 ohm if you just use it as a load box. If run into a cab unattenuated or attenuated, the amp sees the load of the cab. I think.

I would select the 8 Ohm option as well, however, I would be paranoid that you create too much heat with the mismatched impedance between the Attenuator and the Speaker cab. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will respond. BV Update: I read the manual and it clearly states 8 in and 8 out. It is a reactive load box, so your transformer is protected. I think any remote possibility of damage would be in the speaker. I think that is highly unlikely, but possible. That's my 2 cents

Is the cab a 2x12? Can you wire it differently?

Not to de-rail....but I recall a thread where there was discussion about the effectual output impedance when using a z brake (or maybe attenuators in general). Something along the lines of the load always seems to average closer to 8 ohms, so always use the 8 ohm tap on the amp. Even with a 16 ohm cab.
Does that ring a bell? I’ve tried to track that down again but I can’t find it. I thought it was here but it might have been a different forum.
