Lots of initials!!!! I have had gas for a real one but can't afford. The SE looks really good and guessing around 1K. I have owned some SE's before and the quality seems on par with many US made guitars I have played or for sure Mexico. Wife said yes which she always does so saving my change for this in January. Have a merry Xmas everyone.

I have one on order… a goldtop. They are telling me late January. I think I missed the mid January batch. I’ve had a semi S2 that I put DGT pickups in. This goldtop should be fun!

Sweetwater just emailed me saying that the next batch won't be in until late June.

So… here are the details in my situation. I got on the list the second week of December. I just missed the first batch delivered to Sweetwater about a week ago. I’m told they are expecting another batch this week, and I should be included. (Of course it will likely come when I’m out of town next week ; ) My wife will be here. She’s an enabler. My guy told me that the next batch will be April, though last time he warned me of a several month wait (Z28 mkii) I got my amp within the month. Lots of stories and info out there… this is just mine.

DGT's are great. I have a 2021 Core model DGT with the TCI pickups in it and it sounds fantastic. This is my 3'rd DGT and it isn't going anywhere. I watched all of the videos and it really looks like PRS hit it out of the park with the SE DGT. I am happy more people will get the chance to play one of these great guitars. You really can get about any sound out of it.

I don't know why I'm so interested in this guitar. I don't even play electric anymore. Perhaps I'm a fan of quality/value.
The thing is, I had a PRS SE...maybe 10 years ago. I found an Ebay auction that was to end the evening of July 4th...during 4th of July fireworks. (I don't think the seller realized the time frame he chose) So before I left for the evening, I put a stupid low bid on it, and went out for the evening. The next morning I see I won the auction. Something like $250.
I immensely did NOT bond with it. Quality seemed good, but the body was really light...which made the guitar neck heavy. And I can't stand neck heavy guitars. Sold it.
But the DGT is a thicker body PRS, and I'm wondering if it will feel more balanced than the SE I had. I would want to play/hold one first.

I very briefly owned two PRS S2s in the past, had a similar experience - really didn't bond with them at all and sold them quickly. Over the years I had played a couple of DGTs and they impressed me both times. For me the magic was in the pickups but the rest of the guitar felt great too and seemed very versatile. I recently snagged a used DGT and everything is as I remember it! Point being that it seems (if you believe all the slick marketing videos) that they really paid attention to the pickups in the SE. If they're even close I bet it's a very nice guitar, and you can't beat that price. I like and respect David Grissom and the optimist in me wants to believe that he truly endorses the SE and he's not on board simply as a shill to make a few bucks from allowing PRS to use his name on it.

(Of course it will likely come when I’m out of town next week ; ) My wife will be here. She’s an enabler. Sounds like your wife is wonderful like mine! When I tell her I want to get a new amp or speaker cab her response is "If you have the money go for it, you aren't getting any younger" So in the last 2 months that turned into a Z-28 MK II and a Dr. Z 2x12 open back cab with creambacks in it, they pair very well.
Enjoy your new gear!

Nope she is one of a kind! I am a lucky man that she chose me 24 years ago!

yah, but the flip side is shoes and handbags. There’s always a price ; ) She has a good job so she is able to buy the things that she wants and I buy what I want. I must say that my hobby is a bit more expensive and loud than hers is! She likes fish so she has several tanks and a really nice fish pond in the back yard.

I have one on order… a goldtop. They are telling me late January. I think I missed the mid January batch. I’ve had a semi S2 that I put DGT pickups in. This goldtop should be fun! I have a Gold Top on order also. I placed the order a couple of weeks ago. From what I read here it looks like I may be waiting awhile.

I thought this over and realized that the SE would probably just whet my appetite for a Core model DGT. So I searched and found a used '22 in Cherry Burst and could not resist. Should arrive in 4 or 5 days. Canceled the SE.

Love the neck and frets. Love the bridge pickup which is where I live. This could very well replace my Nocaster as my #1.

Literally put on the side of the road (very long driveway) by a FedEx contractor. I’ll open the box up and have a play later today.

I have 2 Core DGT's, and they're the best guitars I've ever owned or played. With that being said, I saw an interview with David Grissom where he was asked about the SE DGT line and he said he was very skeptical at first, but after playing a few, he was amazed that PRS maintained the quality and excellence that Paul is known for. I have a room full of Gibsons that I don't even play anymore since purchasing my first DGT. Actually waiting for a Core Silver Sky to arrive also!

I have a Gold Top on order also. I placed the order a couple of weeks ago. From what I read here it looks like I may be waiting awhile. I checked with SW and it is scheduled to arrive in April. so… killer guitar. As a reference point, I have a semihollow S2 with a pair of regular DGT pickups. The SE DGT plays really well. Overall quality is super high. Way better than the SE’s I tried 10-15 years ago at the PRS factory. The paint / stain is thicker than other PRS’s… but flawless. The SE rhythm pickup doesn’t have quite the clarity of the older pickup. So… I thought, raise the pole pieces. Here’s where it got a little problematic… Three of the pole pieces did not screw out. But they could be pushed out. The bobbin was not threaded. Turns out, same with the treble. I contacted PRS and they asked about shipping it back. Instead, I removed them and shipped the back for analysis (they told me I would not hear anything about the error). They shipped new pickups for me to install. I’m anxiously awaiting them in the mail any day. More to come…
