Hello guys!
I recently picked up a new doctor Z Nova combo that has an effects loop in it. When I put anything into the effects loop, it distorts whatever is in there. For example, when I put in a nice clean delay, it distorts all of the repeats. The signal sounds weaker than it should be as well (based on the level of the repeats that I have set on the pedal). It's also just distorting everything. Even the reverb is distorted. With delay signals with each repeat, the distortion gets worse and worse, and after about three or four repeats, it sounds like a tweed amp on 12!
Is this most likely just a tube issue? Should I try swapping out the effects loop tube to see if that fixes the issue? And how do I determine which tube is for the effects loop?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t believe the effects loop is tube driven/buffered in the Nova. ME

FWIW, I figured out what the issue was. I have two Strymon pedals that have the option between line level and instrument level. I had always previously run them at instrument level. It occurred to me after I isolated a different digital delay in the loop that did not have that option. It worked perfectly and sounded just fine. So I figured there must be something fundamentally different about that pedal versus all the other ones I was trying to run through the loop. So I examined all of the pedals individually and realized that I was running two of them at instrument level. I pulled one off the board ran it individually in the loop and switched between line level and instrument level - and voilà! The solution presented itself. For some reason the loop on the Nova prefers to see those pedals at line level versus instrument, so I will run them that way forward. By the way, my wife went to the store this afternoon and I got a chance to crank up the Nova – good God! How is there not one of these in every studio AND bedroom/basement in the world? What a ridiculously amazing amplifier – I am just tickled! Anybody looking for solid rock ‘n roll, it’s right here. Oh yeah - no call to Don necessary!
