I'm replacing my tubes in both my Z's (Ghia & MAZ 38NR). The ones I'm pulling out go back to 2009.
How imperative is it for me to replace the V2 in the Ghia and V3 in the MAZ 38 with the exact tubes the doc ships with? Ghia V2 calls for Tung Sol 12AX7 Maz 38 NR V3 calls for 12ax7LPS
When I went to TubeDepot, I selected tubes by Amp model. The recommendation was: Ghia = (2 matched) JJEL84 / (2) JJECC83S MAZ 38NR (4 matched) JJEL84 / (3) JJECC83S
I put them in the amps and they sounds great!!! The Ghia actually responded nicely, with a noticeably louder volume difference, no difference in tone or sound quality, just louder. My guess is the pre-amp tubes from 2009 were on their way out. The ones that came out of the Ghia were some NOS Siemens ECC833S's and a Sovtek 5771. Must have been back in 2009 when I was doing tube swapping.
I'm happy with the sound, I just want to make sure I don't do anything that is detrimental to the amp. Any feedback will surely be appreciated.

The Sovtek 5751 is a lower gain variant of the 12ax7 that many people use in Ghias for a cleaner tone, not as much drive. In fact, the 5751 was the stock v2 in Ghias. That might explain why its louder.
The Siemens ecc83 is a great tube, and can sound killer clean or driven. Id make sure its weak before tossing it (if its the original Siemens with 2 posts holding the getter ring above the plates).

I have a whole draw full of Siemens, so I might swap out the EC83S. Yes all the old tubes from 2009 got tossed, but I have more in the parts drawer. It's been so many years, I don't even recall how, when or where I purchased them. Thank you again for all your help. I definitely appreciate it and I appreciate this forum!
