Just curious because I’m bored, but always open to learning more, so has anyone ever used Utah speakers in ANY of their amps, and what did you think of them?

I had a couple Pyle Drivers that I understand were Utahs back in the 80's. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember a whole lot about them. I believe I put them in a late 80's Pro Reverb. I don't know if it was just the amp or the speakers, but I remember they seemed pretty bright.

My old Magnatone has a Utah, but I never use it. I have a modern speaker that takes all the abuse I will give it.

LOL. From things I’ve read about them, people either seem to love them or hate them. I only ask because I don’t know anything about them but I have one in a Swart str tweed that sounds great. I have tried several other speakers in a 1x12 cab and nothing sounds as good with this amp. was just curious who has ever had them.

I’ve got a pair that came OEM in a ‘71 Twin Reverb. One got reconed 12 or so years ago and the other continues to happily motor along. They sound, well, like a Twin Reverb. If you don’t like the way they sound you can keep ooching the TR volume up and pretty soon you’ll be too deaf for it to matter much anyway.
I’m fairly sure Utah made a lot of Leo’s speakers back in the day. That was back before speaker sniffing was so much of a big deal and you pretty much just played what the amp came with. A few guys changed out to JBLs or EVs, etc. but it wasn’t too common.

Z's 10 inch speakers are based on the Utah, if I remember correctly...

Z's 10 inch speakers are based on the Utah, if I remember correctly... The Z10 is very much based off of a Celestion Vintage 10.
