Hello everyone. my name is Jim, and I am an ampoholic. I have been thru many Fenders, Gibson, and Ampegs. My best sound comes from my Ampeg V-2. But it's just too darn loud!! I just bought a DR Z Maz JR NR. Its gonna come this week. Just thought I would introduce myself. I will be around a lot. I did a ton of research and chose the Z. I hope it gives me a bit of mid honk. I love Fenders, but I am a strat player and I find them too brite.

Welcome Jim! You're in the right place. I'm new also, only had mine for two weeks now. What configuration did you settle on - combo, head, 112, 210? Let us know what you really think once you get some playing time on your new amp. Congratulations! Ray K.

My new Z is a 1x12 combo. I use my '74 strat 99% of the time with an Ibanez PUE5 Tube pedal and a Fuzzface clone, as well as a Ross Flanger and a Teese WOF wah pedal. I got the NR version as i find reverb amps don't seem to like my wah pedal as much as NR amps.

I love Fenders, but I am a strat player and I find them too brite. Welcome, Jim! I went from a DRRI to a Maz Jr, because the Fender was causing my ears to ring. The Jr cured that...it's all in the Cut. Even my wife immediately noticed the Z being smoother and warmer than the Fender, and getting her onboard with Dr Z has made my life a LOT easier ;D

Just crank the volume and let her wail. Play it as often as you can at a reasonable volume and the speakers will break in in no time at all. It will sound great from day one though so I wouldn't worry about it too much. ;D

New owner of a 112 Maz JR NR combo as well. Love the amp. Very versatile...takes pedals very well. I run a Keeley Compressor - Xotic AC Booster - Keeley BD-2 on almost all the time. It is tone, sweet tone... Welcome to you and to me!!!!!!!!!! 6strang

I've been through dozens of very expensive boutique amps and this simple little bugger with a few pedals is still my #1 choice. The Maz 18 is a mid-rich amp, so it works incredibly well with Strats and OD pedals. You should love it.

New owner of a Maz 18 Jr 1x12 combo w/ reverb. My 89 strat sounds great with this amp. I previously had a Fender Twin but it was insanely bright. I traded that amp in on a new Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50, way too loud so I got a Dr Z Airbrake still loud. The Maz has the tone I was looking for. I play classic rock and with a Maxon distortion pedal it gives me clear overdrive. You will be very happy with this amp, so versatile.
