I’m really enjoying my new (to me) Z-Lux. Noticed a Z-Plus at one of my local shops. I know what the obvious differences and similarities are, I just wondered if there would be too much overlap in sound if I brought home the Plus? Anybody have, or had, both to offer an opinion?
Thanks in advance.

You should go and play it. You'll find they are two pretty different experiences. Class A is it's own thing.

So, the description of the zPlus as a single / double, high fi champ is pretty interesting. And the zLux as the docs take on a deluxe reverb is as well. While both core reference points are Fenders, they’re pretty different amps. I only have the zPlus, but I’ve owned a couple of DR’s… from what I glean there, they won’t be the same. Words aren’t gonna help with the more subtle differences much.
I’d make sure I played through both for a bit before deciding my answer to a very good question.

I've got both and to me they're quite different especially in terms of feel. Frankie is so right about the two amps, you really need to plug in to appreciate the differences. They're both great, and I struggle to put in words how they sound. Both have that chime but the Z-Plus has a very cool vibe in the way it responds to pick attack... it's the Class A thing. And the overdrive is to die for, it's very cool. Go play it when you can, I bet it comes home with you!
