I’ve got one on the way as of this morning. I was told that there was a long waiting list.

I was looking for the head yesterday. Nobody has them. But I did notice that Humbucker had two color options for the grill cloth. Neither was in stock.

My Sweetwater Rep called my last night to let me know they had one Head in stock and it was mine if I wanted it. He put me on the list about 9 days ago for the Combo and the Head and told me it would be Spring before they got any. I'm holding out for the Combo so I passed. Not sure if it was a Demo/return or what. But if you're looking for the head, I'd reach out to your SW rep today.

Funny enough about an hour after seeing this thread my Sweetwater rep called & informed me that head is available and mine if I wanted it. Easy decision and I'm doing backflips at the news

I can't say enough about this amplifier. The honeymoon is over and I'm still in love. I gigged it this past weekend at a Vet's event. The venue was a big gymnasium and there were 500+ people there for a dinner and Veterans appreciation evening. One Korean war vet took the time to come and compliment me on how good my guitar sounded. I was playing my Custom Core Heritage H-150 through the Z28 MKII, and it really sounded great.

What cab do you have? Or combo perhaps? To what amp would you compare it - some Blackface or smt else? Think I read the mark 1 originates from Brownface world.

With the EF-86 front end, it's different from any amp I've owned. It's got a 3-D quality that's unique in my experience. I've had lot of Fenders and Marshalls, a Vox, and other amps through the years. This one's really special and is in a class by itself. It's not like a Brownface at all, IMO.

I got the combo as well and can also confirm huge 3D tone surround sound coming from this amp. It's like a mix of an old fender and a Marshall. Live I run the master all the way up wide open. Treble at 1 o'clock bass at 11 'clock volume depending on the room usually 9-10 o'clock. I hit it with the Lovepedal Tchula as Boost and control everything from my tone controls on my guitar. I use my other effects when needed. I agree with Dave I can't say enough great things about this amp. Its incredible! The tone is fat and articulate. And it takes pedals like a champ.

Will someone please comment on the amount of clean headroom it has? I have a Z lux that I use for clean tones, but I would love the new Z-28 for the low end and Ef-86 front end for pedals. I just want to make sure I can get enough clean volume with it. Thanks in advance.

That pedal is not a totally clean boost. I haven't tried just a strait clean boost. The front of the amp drives nice when you hit it harder though. Retains amazing definition and gives great compression. It's a joy to play.

You can get really nice small club tones with the master volume. No attenuator needed. Bedroom volume sounds flat on any amp to me. Just not moving any air at that point. The Z28mkII is still playable at bedroom volumes and sounds good. Just gotta give it a little more push for my taste. Then again, I have the luxury of playing at a good volume most of the time.

Takes every pedal I've got and loves them.

Cheers, sounds good! What about the headroom? How does it sound on low volume? Does it come tonally alive only playing fairly loud? Is it usable in small bars etc? It has plenty of headroom for me. I play in church. I have to be able to cut through a Hammond B3 Organ a Bass and a Drummer. No problem with the Mighty Z-28MK11 It sounds great at low volume with that post phase master volume you can dial it in for at home use. Thats the reason I sold my older Z-28. I needed that master volume for mainly at home. Live I just crank that master all the way up. It would def be usable in small nite clubs and bars. It comes alive when you crank up the master and then dial in your volume at 9-10 o'clock. Which is a reasonable volume. Its honestly the best amp of the bunch and I had quite a few of them. I had a 50 watt mesa boogie combo. And the Z-28 MK 11 has better head room than it did. And it sounds better. Takes pedals better. Looks better. Feels better. I could go on and on!

Dang, you guys are getting me pumped for this thing lol. I have a very early Rt66 as well, and I am wondering how these two compare to each other. Has anyone compared the Z28 mkii with a Rt66?

Mine has the original circuit and original caps, so I’m always worried they’re going to give out one day during a show or something. Probably unlikely though. Still, it would be nice if the newer and reliable z-28 could give up a similar feel and tone the Rt66.

The front end, tone stack, and power section have to be damn close. Just the addition of the MV. Now, if doc makes a R66 mkii, good lord I’m in trouble. btw… whoever suggested a zen drive with this amp is spot on. An OCD would probably work as well.
