Well it’s been a few weeks since I got my Z-28 Mk11. I wanted to spend some more time with it before sharing my thoughts about it. From the bedroom to the stage this is really all the amp I would ever need. It takes pedals like a champ. The pedals become part of the amp. Everything sounds great with it. The master volume is excellent and works extremely well at home as well as in live situations. Playing it today at church I noticed that it sounds just like my old Z-28. The main difference is with the master volume you can really dial it in to that sweet spot where you are just right where you need to be in the mix. The new cab is just icing on the cake. It really does give you that 3D surround sound yet still has that punch and kick and cuts through the mix in a beautiful way. The tone is pure and rich. It’s made to make your guitar and effects really stand out. I have had several of the Docs amps over the years and the Z-28 has always been one of my favorites. But this new Mk11 version is to me the cream of the crop. It’s def my all time favorite. It’s going to be a hard act to follow.

very much diggin’ my combo. i have about 10 hours on it at moderate stage volumes. breaking in beautifully, mostly attributable to the speaker, but i do think the circuitry settles in as well. i can hear a certain “brashness” in new amps that warms in with some electron flow. could be me of course, learning how to massage my tones out of it. and yeah, the master doesn’t choke the beautiful harmonics…
ps. love that it’s dead silent at idle.

Just can’t say enough good things about this amp. I played it in 2 services today and it just delivered The goods. One of the pastors at this other church Told me I know that sound. I can always tell when you are In the house. Man I love this amp. It’s brought me nothing But compliments. The way it responds to your hands Is unlike any amp I have ever played it’s so pure and musical.

I kept thinking it would nice to bring up the volume a bit to get an edge of break up tone but Ibwould have blown everyone else off the stage, no drummer this week, and started day dreaming about the MV on the MKII version ha ha!!

I run mine live like the older version I keep my volume at about 9-10 Bass at 1 and treble at 11 and I just use my guitar to control everything It def cuts through everything so I know what you mean. Yesterday at that other church there was a bass player a drummer a keyboard player And a brother on the Hammond B3 and I fit right in the mix with the Z-28. I was a little nervous because I was squished up against the wall. The amp was right up against the wall. They pack us tight in some of these churches like sardines. However even with the amp were it was It still had that big 3D sound!! The new version def took what was already a great amp probably my favorite Z amps ever to a whole new level.

I keep loving mine more every day, and I am really excited for the upcoming Christmas Concert season. We've got six, maybe seven shows lined up and I can't imagine taking a different amp. This thing is just so great at cutting subtly well through the mix, and when I hit it with the Soldano SLO it just sounds perfect for leads. It's the greatest gigging amp I've got.

And it’s already red, so dressing it up with a little tinsel and white cotton would be breeze for the Christmas season gigs.
