Hello everyone!! I was wondering, does any of you Jetta fans think that they are comparable to the late 50s/ early 60s fender tweed amps? ….like the low watt twin perhaps? A friend of mine who is a Dr Z fan was saying that the Jetta was comparable to the old tweeds.. Any thoughts?

The Nova is closer to a low power tweed twin by design. Check out the description on Dr Z's website.

The Cure does a good job at '50s small Fender tweed sounds, especially when you bypass the tone stack. The Nova (and I'm sure the Therapy, Z Master, and others) does a large tweed sound really well.

What are your settings for Tweed with the Cure? I have a Cure and like it a lot. I also have a Therapy, which is my favorite amp, but I can't get them to sound anywhere near similar.

Any thoughts? no longer have my Jettas (had 3), but I liked them a lot they're pretty clean amps, not a lot of front-end gain, but very loud, warm, robust, clear, and authoritative... very unlike a tweed deluxe as mentioned by Doc, they're a spin of the Ampeg Rocket & Jet ("-ta") amps, but so much more - really great if you're into gain pedals, low to high, followed with more pedals not being as much into pedals lately, I've transitioned away from the Jetta; however, I'll probably end up with one again because it really is a great amp

For tweed like sounds with the Cure, with a Telecaster, I've got the Volume set at about 11:00-1:00, the Master at about 3:00, and the Boost footswitch set at about 10:30 with the newer footswitch (I had it set to about 1:00 with the old style non LED footswitch). When the Volume and Master is set high, the Boost distorts the signal rather than mostly making it louder liker it does with lower Volume and Master settings.
This gives me more of a tweed Deluxe type of sound (I use the Cure in place of a tweed Deluxe clone that I've owned for many years), rather than the tweed Super/Pro/Bandmaster/low power Twin type of sound that the Nova produced.
I wouldn't expect a Cure and a Therapy to sound any more similar to each other than a tweed Deluxe and a tweed Twin sound compared to each other (though I haven't played a Therapy).

Old Ampeg to me. I had an old 4x10 combo 60's , I think, yeah that sound for sure. Clarity and Authority ! Would that have been a VT40? I still have one. It's the earlier "top load" version. Loud Jetta definitely leans in that direction.

Howdy,
Is the Jetta's tone closer to a SF Pro Reverb or Super Reverb than say to an AC-30 or Stangray? Forgive me, but this redneck has never played through an Ampeg...

I think the key would be to turn the mids up all the way on your Cure. I have a z-lux and a Nova, which is like a tweed Twin or Super. If i play them through the same speaker (z-12) they sound nearly identical if i slam the mids on the z-lux, which is sonically similar to a Cure.
