Lately I've been curious about the Archer, Wampler and other types of Klone type pedals. Supposedly a transparent overdrive although I don't find anything objectionable about the tone and flavor of pedals such as Maxon od9, 808 or Boss sd1.
The Keeley Oxblood looks most interesting to me but I would like to know if anyone is using this pedal before a drive box like the Suhr Riot or such and how well it plays before a distortion box. Do the extra switches and modes defeat the purpose of using it before a drive box and should I look for something similar like Tumnus or Archer with just the 3 typical controls or will it play nice with other pedals?

The Oxblood is a derivative of the Centaur style drive. Just a few more control options. Transparent, in this type of pedal generally means a flatish eq. Not a potential lack of gain or distortion. They all should work well before another gain pedal or an amp with some level of gain. I, lately, have found that there are a wack of options available that you could try in this pedal vein. Try That Pedal Show YouTube channel. They have tried so many pedal and you can search them for keywords/pedals you’d like to hear/see reviewed. They are pretty good. ME
