how easy is the bass mod? I have a newer version, 2013 I think (withought the oval) but the bass is still so extreme. I play through creamback 75's in a 1x12 and it is gnarly like I have the bass on literally 0 amd it's still alot. I know switching speakers may help but im in love with my sound so I really don't want to, my other unit is a 4x12 with two creamback and two v30s (waiting on 2 of the speakers) so im worried that's gonna be even worse. is there anything I can do besides switching of speakers to help with the bass? that's why I'm looking into the mod, how much will it affect my tone if doing so?

The bass mod has been discussed in previous threads. My suggestion is to Email Don at Dr Z repairs (address on their website) and get the amp set up to send in. He'll do the mods for you and it'll come out fantastic! I had mine done and absolutely love it! I've also found that the stock Rola Celestion g12-65 sounds amazing in the combo. Good luck.

What nick0 said. ^^^. There are several threads and a few images of it as well. How “easy” depends on the skill and experience of the person doing the work. I’d say it’s pretty easy for someone with a lot of experience, and knows why their changing components and their values. But it’s not like swapping tubes. I would strongly recommend you don’t try it yourself. Maybe run it by your friend whose helping you with your bias issue, after checking with Don.

Plus, Don at Z has some really great voicing mods (not just a bass mod). It makes a great amp even better in my opinion. Easier to dial in a wider variety of tones. Not only that, but the ppimv gives you much more control over the overall volume. I highly suggest getting in touch with Don. He does amazing work!
