I recently acquired Dr Z M 12 head. It’s a 2016 with the 5AR4 rectifier. My guess is that they are then original tubes based on other M12s I’ve had and Z info on here on the forum and drzamps.com.
I’m noticing somewhat of an electronic buzzing, or fizziness under the notes when the volume is quite low. It’s not anything at all musical. Happens around the 9 o’clock on the volume. Just got a Chase Tone Secret Pre-amp, which accentuates the noise and confirmed my suspicions.
I’m fairly confident it’s a tube issue and my question is, do I just replace all of the tubes with a fresh set, or replace only whatever tubes are likely to be the cause of the issue? If the latter, what would be the suggested culprit (preamp, rectifier, power tubes)?

My experience with that amp says no matter what kind of weird noise you’re hearing *always* replace the EF86 first.

Swapped in an entire new set of tubes. The issue still remains. Started a thread in the amp troubleshooting area to see if I can find some solutions there.
