I've finally honed in on "my sound" and what works for me in my current band situations. I'm playing a Gretsch 53 Duo Jet RI though a Wreck Jr. It has been great at practices and most of my gigs, however, I've now played two outdoor gigs one where there were no monitors and one where the monitors sitch was poor and I ended up not using it. I ended up having to crank the MV with the V up past noon and the Jr just didn't have nearly the clean headroom I needed.
I play in that clean/dirty zone that the Jr is so great at and easy to dial in. Ideally... MV noon V 11 to noon T about 1:00 B noon cut about 10:30
With this setup I can navigate dynamics and subtle gain with guitar volume and picking technique. I'm running through a convertible Z 112 cab with a 25w GB but also have used a well broken-in Gold. While the Gold is louder, it is still not nearly enough though I would use this with the big Wreck. Pedal board is simple basically with Flint and an OD n' Fuzz that I barely use.
Bands are Americana and the other sort of leans roots rock but it's not super loud RnR type stuff at all. One might think that just turning the MV up would do the trick but it mostly just seemed to get thicker sounding while not adding a ton of volume. Mind you it did sound AWESOME at times, and it held together great, but was mostly not the type of awesome I was looking for.
So, if it's not obvious already, how much more cleans/clean headroom can I expect to get out of the big Wreck?
I realize this may be a hard thing to quantify but insights would be appreciated. I'm certainly not eager to shell out for another head and would have to let a couple amps go to make it happen. :/

I’m not in places that reliably mic amps, so when I play Fenders, I have Champ / Princeton Reverb / Vibrolux Reverb options for small, medium, and outdoors. I use a Zplus for small and zwreck jr for medium… a zwreck would definitely be my answer for outdoors gigs.

I'm not the right person to answer here not having a wreck, but I do have a maz18 and 38 and the clean volume headroom difference is very significant moving to the 38. I'm guessing the wreck sr would be the same thing.

DC here!
I have the Z-Wreck combo original with blue tolex and the 12" Celestion gold. I always play and rehearse with the Brake-Lite engaged in position 2 or three - rarely position 4.
Biggest place I used it in is a 400 people place - amp lightly miked out to get the sound evenly distributed as much as possible in the place - it's impossible to get the sound completely even - due to the shape of the room/s.
Brake-Lite at position 2 volume adjustment on the guitar gets me from almost clean to a nice od -
a metal-player would consider it more or less clean - read wimpy - lols.
The above is with my Warmoth Telecaster with the Seymour Duncan vintage stacks: Don't recall the exact positions on the amp knobs . usually I dont changes the settings much. Adjust the overall volume with the Brak-Lite.
But I usually have the Cut control engaged at about one/two o'clock to cut down the highs from the bridge pickup.
A friend played the same venue - local bluesjam - with a humvucker equipped guitar - His sound was beefier and dirtier all the way through his playing - no surprise of course. But he like his sound through my amp - well who wouldn't? As always YMMV-
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Love the Jr combo, Flint and a few OD's. I do run the Master Wide open and volume 10 o'clockish though. Have a DB4 combo but it does not give up the goods very quickly. Even in 1/2 power. Wondering about the Big Wreck with 1/2 power switch/gold to get just a bit more clean headroom when needed, but still get the sound in 1/2 power for smaller shows. The Jr has that thing when it's mostly clean that is exactly what I like with my Telecasters and Les Paul Jr. It tends to breakup to fast for my county band when I need to be louder though. I love that sound, but not for Alan Jackson/George Straight stuff. Works great on the BP songs though!
