I know, or at least have heard it's suppose to be a take on the blackface sound, does anybody know exactly what amp the Dr was shooting for? I know it's it's own thing but if it had to be compared to which blackface?

I believe it’s both. I recall an interview with Doc where he alludes to trying to captures SRV’s El Mocambo tone and I believe that was a Vibroverb & Super run in tandem.

Isn't a vibroverb and super the same circuit with a 1x15 and 4x10 respectively? At any rate, I believe that the Doc goes for a tone and not a circuit. So he's always putting the Dr Z spin on anything he does. Not just copying a circuit.
Are you looking into getting an EZG?

With its available mid's, I'd blend the 66 BF Pro Reverb into the VV\SR mix as well. It can be "unscooped" while still retaining the BF character.

Here's Guitar Player's take on the EZG 50 - pretty accurate in my opinion. "Taking its lead from classic mid-1960s ‘blackface’ Fender amps like the Super Reverb and Pro Reverb, the EZG-50 is billed by Dr Z as delivering the definitive 6L6 clean sound – in other words, big, bright and beloved of blues, country, soul and rock ’n’ roll players." They quoted Doc in the article as follows: "The EZG came about because of the SRV Live At The El Mocambo tone and later Hendrix recordings when he was using blackface amps.” Here's a link to their article: drzamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/GBEZG.DRZ_.pdf

Output transformer is larger on Super Reverb and is 2 ohm while Vibroverb is smaller and 8 Ohm. 2. Middle tone capacitor is .047uf on Vibroverb and .022uf on Super Reverb. 3. Negative feedback tail resistor is 47 ohm on Vibroverb and 100 ohm on Super Reverb. 4. Super Reverb has a Middle tone control 10k ohm potentiometer on the vibrato channel while Vibroverb has a fixed 6.8k ohm resistor.
