I was able to get together with a few friends Thursday night - a drummer and bass player I've known for a long time, plus, a harmonica player joined us. THAT can be a scary thing when you have no history on a harp player, but he is a very good player, but more than that he knows when a song doesn't call for Blues Harp so he grabs percussion instead. I took my Maz 8 (loaded with a Cannabis Rex) on the Pentode setting, my pedal board, and my G&" ASAT Custom with Lollar Vintage pickups. It was a very loose jam with a handful of tunes and no charts, but after about 5 songs the harp player suggests "Evil Ways" by Santana. There's only 3 chords but you need to know where the "one" is, so I just started playing in G. I started it slow with more of a Blues feel until the bass and drums found their space in it, then the harp player took the melody. As the tune grew in volume, I leaned over to the 8 and set the master on 3 o'clock but moved the volume up to around 2 o'clock. I usually rely on OD pedals and set the amp clean with a hint of breakup, but I started to hear sounds and tones coming from this amp that I couldn't believe I was responsible for (in a good way!). I also started to play less but let the notes breathe for a bit - just like I've B.B. and other players have said, "Have a conversation with what you play". The best part about this for me was that as I looked at my pedal board the only thing lit up was the tuner - NO OD pedals turned on. When we were through with the tune the harp player complimented my tone as well as what I played, which caused me (again) to wish I had this gear and knowledge 40 years ago. I had a very rewarding time, and smiled all the way home.
Now, to replicate it next time!

I just picked up a Maz 8 myself. I had one before and stupidly sold it (I needed the money for another amp).
I need to put mine in a combo cab but have been playing it with just the chassis anyway.
Great sounding amp, I LOVE the pentode triode switch. It's like having 2 amps in one

I dig mine too, it's fantastic. Especially after the MKII change, the Master Volume is terrific.
