I must say this is the sound I've been looking for since I started this journey. I'm 30 now, started buying and trading amps when I was 14 so I've been threw well over 40 in my life. this is the best sounding one. I play rock and harder stuff sometimes. if your looking at this amp but are unsure how mean it can get, with some pedals this thing can do mostly anything. I plan on never selling this amp! I am absolutley in love.

Welcome to Z Talk. The EZG 50 is one great amp, and if you're like me you'll be plugging into a Maz 18 or a Carmen Ghia soon...

That is a really punchy amp and I’ll bet it does very well with heavier sounding pedals, such as Blackhawk, Dunwich, etc. if you want to follow the smoke towards the riff-filled land…

This is a great amp and I continue to be surprised how it flies under the radar vs. other amps such as the Carr Super Bee or Tone King Imperial MKII, where they are more heavily promoted on forums like The Gear Page. Great sounding amp. Great Reverb. Lots of possibilities with the pre/post controls. I run mine with a Powerstation at home so I can get the pre and post volumes up in the 11 am to 1:30 pm range but it also works great without an attenuator running the pre or post high and the other control low to control the volume.

This is definitely a nice sounding amp! What year of production do you have? Do you guys have or thought about having any of the mods done?

I was only interested in the bass mod so I had my local tech do it. I wish I had done it earlier as it is a big improvement in the versatility of the amp. I am quite happy with the original voicing and as I only play clean, I have no need for a MV. I like the feel of big amps below half volume.

It opened up the bass pot range so the whole sweep was usable (as expected). An unexpected side benefit of that was that it allowed more flexibility with the mid pot and the pre\post. Really opened up the tweak factor as far as dialing in the EZG for different guitars, cabs, and pickups. The current bass mod may be different from the one I used based on a schematic that was posted on this forum many years ago but I'm sure it is just as effective .

That sounds awesome! Makes a lot of sense too. I wouldn't have expected the bass mod to have such a large impact. Thanks!
