I run the Cream Alnico in both my Z-Plus and Maz38, I share a 1 x12 Cab with a Ruby. I don't have a studio like yours where I can really crank it, but that mentioned combo at normal home practicing level is fantastic, at least to my ears.

I thought a creamback 65 sounded great in my combo. But I was using it more as a rock and roll amp cranked up, no pedals. The Z+ also sounded great flat out into a greenback loaded 412 I never tried the Ruby with the Z+. I had a Ruby and sold it. I just didn't like it. I think the biggest knock on the Ruby is that it is dark, which it is. But as long as you can turn up the treble or presence it's a non issue. I just didn't like it. But I haven't ever really liked any of the Celestion Alnico's, so theres that. I'd say the Z+ would be a good candidate for the ruby because it has a full eq and the cut control. So if you generally like celestion alnico speakers you'd probably like the Ruby in there.

Tried the Ruby with my Plus. Didn't like it. Too dark. I've been gigging with the V-Type for the last few months and I'm a fan. Just picked up a Jensen Blackbird 40 and I am impressed! Sounds great with the plus. Awesome cleans and dirt. Hard to believe this thing has only an 11 ounce magnet! I have the 16 ohm version which is rated at a little over 95 db's. I like being able to crank the v knob without getting too loud. Gonna give it a go next gig to see how it sounds in a live situation.

Sorry carrjimi. I hit wrong button. I was going to say that The Blackbird is a very different speaker than any of the Celestions that I've tried. I typically run my Plus with the master at about 2 o'clock, treble and cut at noon, mid and bass at 9 and V for room. with the Bird i have bass set at noon and it stays tight. Had to back off T&C to about 10. I also like it with my M12 that I use for rehearsals. The 16 ohm version is rated at 95.2db. Great for getting a big sound and feel at lower volumes.
