My friend recently purchased a Suhr Classic S guitar with these pick ups in it and the humbucker in the bridge. He let me play it and man that guitar was so good I had to order one myself now!! Anyway what really impressed me was the tone of the single coil pick ups especially in the neck position. One of my strats is a little heavy and has always been a little too bright no matter what pick ups I tried with it. I had the fender pure vintage in it for a long time and they were not bad at all but these Suhr pick ups fixed my problem. They really warmed that guitar up they have a real sweet roundness too them. No Ice pick or harshness at all. If you have a bright guitar these pick ups may be what you are looking for. The in between tones still have plenty of quack and the bridge sounds fat. Now I just have to wait on my Suhr Classic S to get built! These pick ups will hold me over until then!

I can confirm, the V60LP are excellent strat pickups--I have them in a Suhr Classic S and they're wonderful. The Lindy Fralin Vintage hots in my other strat (very similar guitar, same body & neck woods, etc., including SS frets) are juuuuuust a tad bit "better" in my opinion. However, I would not for a second turn down another guitar (especially a Suhr!) with V60LP's in it.
[Fun facts: my Suhr actually came with V70 pickups, which I did not like; but the V60LP's were a vast improvement. Also, Suhr's Classic T style pickups are fantastic, equally as good and almost indistinguishable from my Fralin Blues Special tele pickups.]

The Suhr Classic S is such a great guitar the tones and the playability are second to none. I agree with you on the SS frets. Huge difference, I played my friends Classic s a few weeks ago and after I left his house I could not stop thinking about how awesome that guitar was its was such a breeze to play. Needless to say I cant wait until the summer! Thats when mine is expected to be finished.

Last year I bought my first Suhr....the Pete Thorn sig. It has double Thornbuckers....so no single coils. However, the wiring gives several single coil options. This guitar has, without a doubt, the best setup of any guitar I've ever owned right outa the box.
Randy..let us know how you like it when it arrives. And of course, it didn't happen without PHOTOS!! Can't wait to see it.

For what it's worth, I have a Seymour Duncan ssl-1 in the middle position of my 65 strat and it totally holds it's own against a Lollar in the bridge and the original pickup in the neck. Those are still pretty cheap, but they used to be less than $50. The Duncan matches the vintage one perfectly, the fancy Lollar leaves me a little flat.

It probably doesn't hurt that the Thornbucker pickups are possibly one of the BEST humbuckers that I've ever played, too. Man those are some awesome, awesome pickups.
