I have the Ultra Phonix. Supposedly the Dumble sound in a box. Does it do a similar thing to a Tube Screamer because I've heard both emphasize mids so thinking they might be similar and should just stick with the Ultra.

I think vertex claims at least 3 pedals they have are Dumble in a box.
I actually bought one of them but returned it unused when I read some of the sketchy stuff in Vertex history.
Those two pedals aren’t really a direct comparison to me. Very different sound from both. One is overdrive with hump in the mids. The other is approximating an amp with a specific chime and bell tones

I owned an UltraPhonix and have several TS's. Although I never put them on a board and A/B'd them directly. I would agree with azcoyote's description. The UP is voiced using a real Dumble (supposedly) so it's more of an amp in a box pedal. I sold my UP as I've never bonded with AIB type pedals.

When I read that statement I did a search. Interesting.
