I've been using the Wamper Gearbox for a while. It's a duel overdrive Andy Wood signature. Andy Wood is a beast of a player and Brian Wampler makes great sounding drives. So I figured, why not!!
The tweaked Tumnus side one sounds great. I actually like it better then my Tumnus Deluxe. Probably due to the fact that there are less controls to confuse me!
The tweaked Pinnacle side two sounds good as well. It has some top end sizzle that can be a bit much in isolation. However, really comes into its own in a band mix.
Side two has a lot of gain, but feels pretty open to play. I was feeling a lack of compression. After watching some of Andy's videos on it, he uses a compressor before the Gearbox. I stuck my JHS Whitey Tighty in front and BAM, smooth sounding compressed gain!
Side two can get some nasty noise and feedback if your really pushing it and running loud. The built in noise gate does a good job when adjusted correctly.
Side one into side two creates more overdrive and tightens up the sound. Side two into one can give you a nice mid and level boost for soloing. I like running a compressor > side two > side one (engaging side one when needing a solo boost).
It's a good pedal that's worth a look if you're in the market for a duel overdrive that can go from boost to distortion. Of course the Z-Drive is killer. This covers some different flavors I'd say.
Anyone else using one?

Is anyone using it with a battery? Wondering about run time. I was reading the manual and it mentioned batteries will drain fast.

The manual has a pretty low amperage draw listed. I'm not sure why it would burn through batteries. Maybe if you leave the battery in and the cables connected while not in use it'll drain? The manual is not clear.

I love the the Tumnus side as a final boost. It obviously works great all by itself as well. I use the pinnacle for all my high gain. The pinnacle side also takes overdrives and compression into the front very well. Much like an amp. It's a good buy that really shines in a full band mix. Humbuckers and single coils both. If you get one, please let us know what you think!
