So I have been fiddling with my new Jetta and I noticed that the Volume knob has a dead zone of almost 1/2 inch as you start from zero and roll up. Is this normal?

I keep my volume and tone maxed , using my guitar volume and tone to cleanup, on the edge or full on!
My rolled off clean tones get everything I need, and I have so many other total variations right under my hand, I love it!
It works on my Strat, Les Paul custom(Low to medium output humbuckers, Les Paul special(p90s, and my les Paul Junior(dog ear
Of course with those settings I can’t get Sparkling Tele spank, but close enough for me

Interesting. Thanks for the answer! Is that just a thing with how potentiometers work??

Interesting. Thanks for the answer! Is that just a thing with how potentiometers work?? Well , yes to some degree. The CTS Analog pots tapers lately do stay at high resistance for the a longer movement than some others pots or CTS pots from the past. But this combined with VERY simple Volume / Tone circuit derived from the original Ampeg JET circuit feeding a solid state Effects Loop combines for the slight delay of perceived output from typical pot movement.
