Well that was interesting. So after my 1st M12 gig I have to say I am really happy with the results. The bar we played last night is an odd shape and I did struggle with volume a bit.so after notching up the volume on the amp for the first set I decided to mic it up for the second. The amp itself sounds amazing in a live situation and I found that I was turning the gain down on every pedal and playing solos almost clean in some cases, it just doesn't require goosing all that much. The drummer then decided to double the volume and I ended up with the amp in high mode for the third set. At this point the band was too loud anyway. But I could still hear myself ok. I dont think ive played that well for ages and I honestly think it's down to the amp, I also received some genuine complements about my playing and tone. All in all I'm scoring thus amp 9/10 It has changed my approach to pedals and sound and I've only had it 3 days

Z amps have made me a better player, there's no doubt. It's inspiring to hear great tone when you strike a string...

The EF86 in general will change the way you approach pedals. Keep enjoying it, there will be more. LOL

Ive hardly spent anytime with the amp but I'm onboard with the ef86. I'm slightly worried about the jhs angry Charlie for high gain sounds, I think I just need to dial it in a bit more. Every other pedal sounded better and the strat sounded super straty

I had a weird crackly sound with my Angry Charlie and a few other plexi style pedals into my EL84 amps. But it didn’t happen into fender style amps. Strangest thing. You could try the Rockett Animal or 45 for plexi vibes.

Its not just you guys, some of the pedals like that get a bit brittle or glassy, and when you are using edgy EL84's.

Well I'm a good ten gigs deep with the M12 with 2x12 cab here's what I've learnt. Low power mode almost maxed out is my happy place. Low gain on my pedals makes everything merge together in a good way. 12 watts is enough. The biggest change in sound for me has been to do away with the TC bonifide buffer on the pedal board. it seemed to be keeping in some tiring high end shrill frequency's, I know that it's supposed to improve or retain your tone but it just sounds better without. I heard a recording of my band the other day, the guitar sound was smoking hot, the playing was average. Also, I just bought my first Tele (a Baja) and that thing sounds great with the M12.

Glad you like the M12! That's one I've never played but always intrigued me. Teles are a whole new world if you've never had one!
