Hi all -- I am interested in getting a Z-verb or another stand alone reverb unit. I have a Maz 18 NR head and use a Wampler Analog Reverb pedal 100% of the time (it's always on). I don't like the sound of my guitar without reverb, probably because I am playing alone most of the time. Anyway, I'd like to get a stand alone reverb unit because I love reverb so much but I am curious how the stand alone unit reacts to overdrive and boost pedals because it's in line. The reverb pedal handles overdrive pedals just fine, it doesn't cause the reverb signal to go crazy or boost. What about the Z-verb? Also, I use enough reverb to make my guitar sound full and fendery, but not surf levels of reverb. I mostly play blues and jazz/fusion. Probably akin to an amp reverb on 4 or 5. Does the Z-verb handle that amount of reverb well or is it really intended for surf sounds? Thanks--Erik

I have never had a problem with running an overdrive and/or boost pedal into the Z-Verb. Sometimes I will run it before my drive pedals. It does do surf really well but you can set it low. For just a touch of reverb I turn the mix and dwell knobs on 8.
