I really liked a single redback in one of my combo amps. It's similar in ways to the base tone of a greenback but fuller and fatter maybe. It seems to sound just as good at whisper volumes as it does when its ripping loud. It doesn't change much. It's a really good all around speaker that seems to excell at whatever you through at it. I like it so much I put together a quad in a Boogie cab. It sounds awesome! Sounds just as good for the claner stuff as the hard rock. The Redback has a big dust cap, not sure why, or what difference that makes, but I notice I seem to like speakers with them. Probably just coincidence- who knows? The nice thing about them is they are rated at 150 watts. So one will do ya for whatever amp you got. Or you could go with a nice 600 watt 412 like me lol.

I've got one and to me they sound a lot like a Creamback. I tried it with an old Carvin X-100A 100 watt amp and it was boxer short shakin' loud, but it held together just fine. I bet a quad of them driven hard would be stadium quality sound! It's got the same magnet weight as the G12H30 Anniversary, 50 oz.

Jee-zus, that's a lot of power handling in one cab! Do you need a forklift to move the cab?
I bet it sounds good, though. I've never played a Redback myself, but I always hear great comments about 'em.

I've never played a Redback myself, but I always hear great comments about 'em. Lol. I don't think it's any heavier than it already was! I'm really liking them for all types of music. I'd never guess they were capable of handling so much wattage. They don't come across that way in how they sound or feel. They feel sort of worn in right out of the box to me.

Come to think of it... 150 W handling with a 50-oz. magnet and 2-in. voice coil (the Redback) isn't all that different from two speakers that Eminence has been making for a while--the Swamp Thang and the Tonker. (Both of those are 150 W handling, 2-in. voice coils, and massive 59-oz. magnets.) The more I think of it, the Redback isn't any more bombastic than those Emi's, which have been around for a while.

I think the Redback has gotten looked at as only being a high power handling speaker, and gets overlooked as just a generally great sounding speaker for anything.

You could run four high-powered heads into that cab simultaneously!

You could run four high-powered heads into that cab simultaneously! I waa gonna say, Id like to have two separate 212 cabs loaded with redbacks and two RXES heads. Wonder what that would sound like. 👀
