Our Big Band is doing a Veteran's Day show next week and in addition to the patriotic songs the director decided we're gonna do Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4", so it's one of my infrequent times to really let it rip. The band is going in a little different direction this year and we're doing more guitar oriented stuff so I get to solo a little bit. My chops are rusty and I've been working hard to get up to speed...this song will be a fun challenge for sure!
I have been using my Carmen Ghia 1x10 for rehearsals and it's been loud enough but I was just practicing with my Maz 8 MKII and I think I'm going to use it. It sounds great with the Celestion Blue, and when I hit it with my Friedman Small Box drive pedal it just comes to fire breathing life. Sounds so good. I've got the Volume set at around 10:30 which is already starting to get on that sweet edge, and with the Master at 11:00 I'm already hitting 100+dB in my living room.
I don't remember using the 8 for a live gig where I had to really be heard over the band, so I'll take it to rehearsal Tuesday and make sure. I think it'll be fine, though. I hope so, because the tone I'm getting is just phenomenal. It's going to be great to play live again.

That will be fun one to lay for sure. With big band behind you, you should have a blast. Enjoy.

Should work fine. This is from my sound engineer perspective. You are going to be able to be at least as loud as any of the horns and I assume they have no trouble being heard during a solo. I'm assuming you are not mic'd. In my experience horn players are better at knowing when and how to back off when someone takes a solo. Sounds like fun.
