I've been reading a lot of good reviews on the e-h el84's and my local amp tech has them in stock and he says they are pretty good. anybody have experience using them in a MAZ18?

tried a set, supposedly matched, the MAZ did not like them, hummed worse than Rubys. They worked okay in my Blues Jr.

Ditto. Bought my Maz Jr used and it had 2 EH's in the pre section...replaced them with a less aggressive tube and the hum/noise went away.

I haven't tried the EH, but have tried Sovtek (which are probably different than EH, although both are from the Reflector plant, I believe), EI and JJ and like JJ the best, specifically the #4 hardness version from Groove Tubes.
