I just bough the Z 1x10 combo cab that had the 12" baffle in it for one of my Z28's. But since one of them is out on loan I took the oppurtunity to put my Ghia in it. Its now the size of those 3 Monkeys Amps I was using for gigging, and imho its tough to get the right speaker in a cab that size. Its all about the speaker in one of these and they are focused like a laser.
G12H30, Tone Tubby 40/40, Red Fang Ceramic, Red Fang Alnico all just too loud and changed way to much when you hit them with a gain pedal.Tried the Neo V Type, but I didn't like the way it distorts when either you crank the amp or hit it with a pedal. I needed something that was just more relaxed like a greenback but stayed big. The V Type does that, just tighter bottom end and great highs, it really does sound like 2 greenbacks together.
I thought I had a full thread on the V Type, but I couldn't find it. Great speaker if anyone is looking modern Celestion with classic tones.

Yeah, the Ghia with the 12" V-Type was the pairing that blew my mind and proved to me that it's a great speaker. It's the king of the hill (mountain) of speakers that I'd ever tried with the Ghia.
The V-Type also beat out the Creamback that came stock in my Carr Lincoln (a sort of AC30/Plexi 2-channel 2xEL84 amp). But I don't think that amp's going to be around here much longer--I need to get a Ghia back in the house, and get this V-Type into its own dedicated 1x12 cab.

The V type is amazing, I thank you guys for turning me on to it. Love the 12 but the 10 is really nice too, especially paired with a WGS ET-10. Great combination 2x10. I almost prefer that to the single V 12.

I picked one up to use with my Z28 and possibly others because of this thread. It only has a couple hours on it, but so far I like it with the Z28 a lot. Didn't care for it with the Therapy though. A little fuller in the lows and clearer than a Greenback. Once it is broken in, I'll probably do my usual speaker swapping all day to see what I like with which.

It is a very expressive speaker, loud or quiet the Tone stays intact.

I tried the V-Type with my Therapy at a gig Saturday and holy cow, it sounded great. Much more fullness in the lower mids than any of my V30s and clear throughout with a little give under distortion so it doesn't get harsh. Don't know why I didn't like it with the Therapy before, but I think it will keep me satisfied for quite some time.
Still liking the V-Type with my original Z28. Sounds great and a little bit more clear than a Greenback when playing clean. I really tried not to like this speaker because the cost made me think it's a cheap speaker. However, of the dozen or so speakers I've tried with both these amps, the V-Type not only sounds best to me, it sounds really good.

Slightly clearer, but still gives a touch, glad you enjoy it.
