Resolved: customer service reached out and we’re working on the problem together.
Hi all, I purchased a Maz38 mki in may or June and I totally love it. In July or august it began acting strangely (intermittent lightning storms, loss of gain, crackling which sometimes responds to playing). I’ve poked around with a chop stick and am unable to induce the noise consistently by tapping components. I’ve changed all tubes save for the rectifier and I’m kind of at a loss.
I have no problem sending it to dr z to repair (and mkii update) but I cannot get a hold of them. I’ve filled out the repair request and sent it twice now. Once when the repair occurred and I thought no big deal it fell through the cracks. I filled out another last weekend and again no response.
So 1) any advice on the amp (I do not live near reputable techs and have had issues with my local shops butchering gear)
2) anyone else have difficulty with dr z customer service? I’m a little disappointed considering their reputation.

What email address are you using to contact them? In over 10 years I've never been disappointed with their customer service. It's not unusual to get a response directly from Doc.

Did you use this phone and/or email address?
Repair Dept. : (216) 475-1962 / repairs@drzamps.com
Like Mike, I've been a Z customer for many years and have found the customer service to be top notch. This email address never fails to get a response within two working days (M-F). Or just give them a call.

As others have said, service is top notch.
If you want to do a little more yourself check out this:
If you do send it in seriously consider the mkii update. My Maz 38 had it done already when I bought it. It's such a great amp.
