Just received a new to me Remedy NMV. Has anyone noticed hum coming from the V2 preamp circuit? I had a 60 cycle loud hum not affected by volume change. I was able narrow it down to V2. I tried 5 different known to be good 12AX7 tubes before I hit on one that eliminated the hum. I don't know why that circuit seems to be very particular about its' tube.

I have a NMV Remedy and no hum. However, I also still have the original preamp tubes in there as well (so I haven't changed anything out to notice if different tubes would have the same issue you are having).
Just curious what would happen if your used some Deoxit (or similar contact cleaner) on the tube socket and tried the other tubes again? I'm just wondering if the last tube works as the repeated inserting/pulling tubes has now cleaned the contact points on the socket?

Good thought, that is very possible. I did clean all the tube sockets before trying different tubes, but the repeated in and out may have done it. I will have to go back and try the tubes that were causing the hum. The tubes that caused the hum tested very good on my BK 7000 tester, so you may be right.
