The Galaxie was my first Dr. Z amp 4 years ago in a 1x12 combo. I ended up selling it off to fund some other Dr. Z adventures, KT-45/ M12/ Monza/ Therapy/ Mini Z/ prescription ES.
All amazing amps in there own way, but there was always something missing that the Galaxie just had when I remembered it’s shining moments. I was new to exploring how much an amp can effect your tone 4 years ago and only learned now how much speakers and little tube swaps really put the finishing touches on your overall sound in an amp. The combo had a Jensen blackbird in it and I didn’t give the amp the chance to try a different speaker.
I picked up a Galaxie head about a year ago and run it out of my Z 1x12 with a Scumback H75LD now…
You can’t deny this thing is the heart of rock and roll! It’s big, it’s full, it’s clean and mean when you kick it with an OD or better yet a Fuzz. Out of all the amps this thing will never leave my setup again.
I’ve split the amp world with my Galaxie and my Original Dr. Z Prescription RX… 6L6 and EL84 pretty much covers anything I need at this point.

Galaxie is a fine amp indeed.
I’ve owned a 112 combo w/presence control; a master volume head; and currently have a 210 combo with presence control.
Rock n roll. Country. Blues. Jazz. Yup!
Tone aplenty!
Strong volume!
Love it with Stratocaster, Telecaster, ES-335/339, SG, Les Paul, etc etc etc.
Spend most of my time on Channel 1 with an RC Boost, AC Boost and a bit of Cmatmods Trem n Chorus.
Cheers always

Btw, T-Rock posted several great examples of what the Galaxie does. Not sure exactly when posted, but well worth the time to find.
Cheers always

Haha I searched all of T-Rock’s clips during my time away from the Galaxie, it’s probably what convinced me to venture back to it. I just got a Nova and of course I had to put them side by side to see the showdown! The young buck vs the Legend! But it’s really not fair to try and compare these two as which is the better version because the Doc definitely took the inspiration from the Galaxie and made the Nova it’s very own thing. I’ll be posting a thread in the Nova section soon But the Galaxie definitely displays that’s it’s simplicity is actually refined perfection. The Doc was always right guys… the presence knob is that little touch on that amp 😄. All I can say is when the Galaxy starts to push and grind it just oozes gobs of tone 🤤

I think a Galaxie was the first Z I knowingly heard live, which whetted my appetite for the brand. Congrats on returning to that sound!
