Anybody ever hear about these? What kind or brand of transformers does Doc use in the MAZ Jr?. Thanks! Rick

I have their trannies in a reissue Vox AC30 tbx and they sound great.

I think the market for Mercury Magnetic transformers is the guy that wants to upgrade his old amps or newer mass produced amps. I assume that Z already uses what would be the equivalent of upgraded transformers.

Z uses the best trannies for his amps, you can't get those off the shelf. If I ever had a trannie issue, only a Z trannie would replace it.

I purchased two. One for a Deluxe Reverb Reissue (98) and the other for a silverface Vibrolux (I used them until I got a Maz 38, now they just sit with the cover on).
Mercury Magnetics makes terrific transformers. Very big difference in the DRRI. Bottom end tighter, better reverb, just seemed like everything was better than the stock transformer that came with the DRRI. I used to tell my buddies it was the best $85 I ever spent (not sure what one costs now). This was an easy A/B comparison.
The Vibrolux I got at the guitar show in 2001. It had problems and I purchased it on the cheap knowing it would require repair $'s. I put a MM transformer in it and it really does sound good. But no A/B.
When I took the Vibrolux to Slemmons Music Services, Inc. in Dallas (great work) they were keen on the MM transformers as well.
In brief I did exactly what billyguitar said and I think it was the right decision for my circumstances.
