I'm putting together another partscaster! It's gonna be an HSS Strat, so I'm confronted with an impossible task; Find strat neck/middle pickups that will work well with a humbucker bridge pickup. I know I'll never have zero volume drop, I'm not really worried about that. I'm worried about getting pickups that feel like they belong on the same guitar. Like for instance, I don't want a super honky, gritty, overpowered bridge humbucker, and then have a neck pickup with a totally different frequency curve that would be jarring. I've played a Suhr Classic S Antique that was HSS and the pups were pretty well balanced as far as the EQ, so I know it's possible.
I'm considering a few different bridge humbuckers. The "Andy Timmons Fanboy" part of me is leaning toward a DiMarzio AT-1 humbucker and Cruiser neck and middle. But I also really dig some of the Bareknuckle and Lollar humbuckers. In all honesty, I don't know a whole lot about pickups, like I don't understand the specs like magnet type, impedance, wire gauge, etc. So looking for new pups is rough LOL

I really like the Lollar Blonde pickups for the strat single coil side and his low wind imperial humbucker. Nice set.

Just go for the Suhr HSS pickup set if they sounded great to you. I think you could spend a lot of $$ by reading specs and reading reviews trying to find "that" tone and balance. But if you have the time and $$ it could be a fun treasure hunt!

These may be a bit dated or out of fashion, but I have an HSS strat with all Lace Sensor Golds that mate perfectly.

I would second those that brought up Lollar or Suhr. Those are both going to be balanced out well if bought as a set. Another route would be to hit up Curtis Novak. He's a lot bigger than when I got my Jazzmaster pick ups, but he was very responsive and wanted to have an actual conversation before making me a set of pick ups to make sure they would work together for what I wanted out of the guitar. I've changed a lot of stuff on that guitar since, but never even considered doing anything with the pickups. They're perfect.
