I currently have a 1x10 M12 and was wondering if there was enough room to swap out the baffle for a 1x12 speaker? Thanks!

The short answer is to measure the cab opening. If height or width is under 12", no. If it's just over 12" hi or wide, you can do it but should you?

It's been done, I do recall somebody around here had chronicled the conversion of their 1x10 into a 1x12. But it did not appear terribly straightforward. The entire cab is like 17x17 inches, so it'll fit in there, but... at your own risk, of course.

Remember, it's not just the size of the baffle but the clearance between the back of the speaker and the chassis. I converted both of my Brown Princetons to 12" baffles but had to offset the speaker cutout so the back of the speaker would (barely!!) clear the chassis and transformers. The type of speaker magnet and basket shape matters also as far as clearance. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I plugged into a compact 1x12 with a greenback and really liked the tone. Just wondering...

Yes, the 1x12 Greenback is a fantastic pairing with the M12 (my favorite, actually). I'm not sure what 10" speaker you have in your 1x10 combo now, but... the 10" Greenback is also a fantastic all-around speaker and that might get you that sound without having to go through any major surgery. Just a thought.

Mine has the Z branded 10” speaker which is is fine with a loudish band but in quieter settings it is a little to mid-forward sounding like a tube screamer. That’s why I was wondering about the 12” baffle.
