Hey gang, I have a Victory Sheriff V4 preamp pedal. It can go in front of the amp like a traditional boost/distortion pedal, or in the loop using a four cable method bypassing the amp's own preamp when the pedal is engaged. I got it mainly to use in the loop of my Victory Copper head, where it works well. Set Copper for slight breakup, roll back for clean, engage Sheriff V4 for gnarly and gnarlier. Figured I'd try with the Jetta too. Works well and sounds good in front of Jetta. In the loop, there are squeals when Jetta's master volume is above noon (volume has no effect as Jetta's preamp is bypassed). Other pedals including Boing reverb and BBE Tremor don't make squeals even when Jetta's volume and master are maxed. Anyone else try one of these bypass style pedals in your Jetta's loop? Tim

Hi Tim,
The output of the pedal may be too much for the loop, especially past noon on the master which is nearly full volume on most Jettas. The loop itself is an amplification device powered by FETs, so it has it's own gain level. You can adjust the gain of the loop two ways. With the amplifier off and unplugged you can pull the chassis and there will be a switch that will change the line level buffer gain. Flipping this switch may decrease the gain too much but you can try it, easy as switching between the two options. The other option that will likely be more effective is using the small trim pot on the loop board and just nudging it very slightly counter clockwise to decrease the gain. A little goes along way.

Thanks Frankie. I did a little Googling on the Metro Zero Loss loop and read about the switch. I might try those options to satisfy my curiosity.
Truth is, Jetta was running through UA Ox and headphones. It's a rare day I can run Jetta with MV halfway up!
Other truth is it sounded damn good into the front of Jetta (yay for headroom!). Plus my reverb and trem pedals sound good in the loop so kinda loathe to mess with it too much.

OP back for an update. FINALLY pulled the chassis and tweaked the trim pot a little. Squeal gone! Haven't tried yet with reverb or trem pedals to see if the slight adjustment changed their response.

This would be a good link to put in the Resolved/Answers section
