Hi All,
I recently purchased the Z Wreck Jr. After playing this amp for the past few weeks I've decided it's the best amp I've ever owned or played through to date. I'm sure I'm not sharing any new info here but wanted to post anyway in case it helps someone out there trying to make a decision about purchasing this amp. Do not hesitate just go for it. I absolutely love it! It takes both humbuckers and single coils extremely well. While it doesn't need any pedals I still use them. It goes from clean to mean with the volume knob. My setup is a Crook Tele>tuner>exotic boost>tube screamer>Wampler Delay>Way Huge Aqua Puss Mk III>Z Wreck Jr. I purchased the jr. head and a 1x12 cabinet that came loaded with an Alnico Blue and thought it sounded great. a couple weeks later I purchased an 8 ohm Greenback so I could hear how the amp was intended to sound originally. I was hesitant to take the Blue out since I was enjoying it. I put the Greenback in and it's not coming back out. The Greenback is absolutely perfect for this amp and I wouldn't mess with it. The Blue sounded really good. It seemed a little brighter but overall didn't fill out quite the same. The Greenback sounded warmer and very well balanced. The volume knob on this amp that dials in the gain sound killer through the Greenback. The 1x12 convertible cab is quite special too. It's the best cabinet I've owned and sounds great. It's constructed extremely well too. Volume is not a concern with this amp. It is very loud but also sounds so good. The master volume is absolutely amazing. You just dial in your settings where you want and the master volume retains that same tone and just makes it louder or quieter. I won't sell this amp. Honestly you'd be hard pressed to find a genre this amp couldn't handle. It will do Country, Rock, Blues or whatever you want to play. It probably wound't be a metal amp but I will say I played a couple of Metallica and Ozzy riffs through it and I thought it sounded really good. If you are on the fence about this amp just go for it. You won't be sorry. I am extremely happy to own this amp and won't ever sell it. The tone of the amp and harmonics are so rich and present in this amp too. You'll plug in to play and the next thing you'll notice is that a couple hours went by and you still feel like your not done playing yet lol. The last thing I'll mention is that I don't live near a Z dealer. I bought this amp based on reviews and the demo videos I could find. If you are in this same situation and are wondering about this amp trust me you won't be sorry. Just buy it and get back to playing music.
