Ok, I currently play a LP Special w p90s into Friedman Runt, so I have the Marhsal Style gain covered. But I want another amp in Petty, Jayhawks territory for recording purposed. I think I've narrowed this down to a used MAZ8 MKII and new Z Wreck Jr..
Thoughts from MAZ8 folks?
Also, can the MAZ8 do cleaner chime?

With the amp on the pentode setting you will get "that" chime, and even more if you have a Celestion Blue or Gold. I've kept mine on triode for the most part because it suits the tone I need for a smaller setting, but even on triode I get a lot of chime with single coils and adjusting the treble and cut knobs. Enjoy the tonal journey!!

The Maz 8 was my first Z amp and I got it back in 2013 or 14. It was a MKI when I got it but it's now a MKII. The improvement was really great, and it's now an amp I'll never part with. It covers a LOT of sonic ground and will do the sweet chime as well as get into really great Marshally overdrive territory...and loves pedals. I have a Z-Wreck with the half power option, and it's a terrific amplifier. But if I was doing recording I think I'd pick the Maz 8 MKII over the Wreck.

The maz8 is a great recording amp; huge sounding while keeping the volume manageable like an old fender champ but WAY more versatile. Love mine.
