So I recently added a J Design 112 extension cab. I plan to run with the Maz 38 studio that came with a Lead 80. I got one of the Scumback versions of the G12H 30w. I want to make sure that I'm not being dumb, but I see people say they run Blues and Greenbacks so I don't think I'm going to have much of an issue. Also, wouldn't really only be an issue to run a 30 watt speaker with a 38 watt output if I were really pushing the Master? Am I correct in thinking that the lower the volume the less watts I'm pushing to the speaker? It's been a while since I read up on that end of amp stuff.
By the way, not that the Doc needs by props, but the Lead 80 sounds phenomenal with this amp. I wondered if someone had swapped it out before it got to me, but had someone confirm it was one of the speakers being used early on with the 38. Once again he proves his ears know his amps best.
I'm really glad this is the main speaker I'm running. I look forward to getting my Y cable soon. I don't love the Scumback as the lone speaker compared to the Lead 80, it's much darker. I do anticipate that they are going to blend really well. I've not had great luck with mixing extensions and combos. Some of my Z extensions had speakers that were so close to the combo that it added fullness to the sound, but covered the same sonic neighborhood. The other cab I had that I mixed with combos was one of the Mesa Theile cabs with the EV speaker in it. That speaker was way too hifi for me. I didn't like what that did to the over all tone at all.

You should be fine. If you are running the speakers together, even at 38 watts each speaker is only seeing approximately 19 watts. If you are running two speakers you can double the wattage of the lowest speaker to get the maximum you can run. In your case, that would be 60 watts. You could likely run a bit more through it, as most speaker manufacturers rate their speakers conservatively.
