I have my second Dr Z amp - a Route 66 Head. I also own a Monza. I notice it has Groove Tubes for the power tubes. There is one Electro Harmonix preamp tube. I have not gotten to really crank this amp up yet, but even at low volumes, it sounds great. I used it with a Fulltone Plimsoul and a few different fuzz boxes. This amp really has a nice clean sound, which is not always easy to get. I always wanted a big tubed Marshall and this amp does all that with its own tone. I like my smaller guitar amps - I even have a 3 watt and a 1 watt amp, but there is nothing like playing out of these high-wattage guitar amps. My #1 cabinet is a Marshall 2556B 2 12" speaker cabinet. I have some smaller 12" cabinets too, for easier transport.

Congratulations! I loved playing through the Route 66. Played it at Fatsound in NC. No longer in business. Great amp.

You guys are killin' me. I've been interested in the Rte 66 for a long time. I have plenty of mid-power amps already, that keeps me from buying one. However, one of these days I'll just have to check one out...

I love mine. It’s my second favorite amp- just a hair behind the ZWreck. It has a similar flavor, but a little darker and grittier through breakup. Maybe a little better for humbuckers than the ZWreck.
Shocked me that the buying public lost enthusiasm for them.
