Coming from Jay's personal stang ray. If you ever wondered what they sound like, this is probably the best capture of one in recent memory!

Sounds OK, but that guitar is off the rack and you can hear that the set up is not right for how this fellow plays. He has a heavier touch, so his playing style requires heavier gauge strings and action that has some more “relief.” That set up he’s playing with is the aural equivalent of some week-old twinkies! For the life of me, I cannot figure out why the stores don’t take the time to set up demo guitars properly for the player. It does the guitar, the amp, and the player a disservice.

Because every player plays differently. Which one do you set it up for? Heavy hitter? Light strummer? Finger style guy? Thrash Meister? Classical background guy? Punk rocker? No one set up will work for all. So you leave it the way the factory sent it. Saves time and they ship them easy to play for beginners. Anyone with experience should know how to set it up for themselves.

I thought the sound and playing was great. And no disrespect meant to your opinion in any way, just wanted to say I liked it and found it helpful.

I was criticizing only the set up of the guitar for this particular demonstration. Obviously a store can’t set a guitar up for “everyone.” But this fellow gets paid to demo the gear, and the set up distracts from the purpose of the video. Also, I liked the amp and his playing very much. I thought the scope of my remarks was clear from what I wrote. I was wrong, apparently. I’ll stop offering remarks now, since they might get misconstrued. Sorry for the bother.
