Picked up an older, used EZG a while ago for a reasonable price that I was expecting to be hosed because of the price (it was). Sent it to Z and Don said it had been modded, regardless, he fixed it and updated the amp. It showed up yesterday. It sounds phenomenal! I guess this is where I rant and rave and try to convey how wonderful the amp sounds, but I'm just going to sound like an idiot repeating myself. Hadn't intended about posting about this one, but it's so good, I feel compelled to say/share something about it. Preface - played my old strat straight in and out to the Marshall 1960ax (greenbacks) in the room. Observations - it sounds huge and glorious and remarkably 3d, like it's not coming out of the 4x12, but has that open back sound where it feels like the sound is coming from everywhere. Not a fan of reverb at all, but even with just a little, there's sort of a magic air around the sound that seems like it's coming from everywhere. It's surprisingly very forgiving to play, like when you gain something up, but I had it set dead clean. Played around with the gain and there's all kinds of neat and new to me shades of dirt. There's a master volume on the back which is just completely transparent and a very welcome addition. Then plugged in a CS tele that I don't really care for and that thing never sounded like that before. All of a sudden I like that guitar which I think is pretty funny. Lastly, I'm no aficionado on this stuff, but I do have some fenders here like a '91 Blues Deville, Deluxe Reissue, '67 Bassman, '81 140 head, and I've owned a few others as well. The EZG has none of that stuff that sort of plagues those amps like the brittle/harsh highs or boomy lows, and the reverb just smokes all the other ones by a factor of 10. I couldn't be happier with this, and it really exceeded my expectations. Many thanks to Z and golden ears Don.

Congratulations. The EZG is a very nice amp (I'm currently on my third one) and you described it well.

I've had seller's remorse due to selling my EZG for serveral years. Glad you dig the amp!

I've been too scared to add yet another Z to the line up. The EZG has been one that was on my radar for a long time. Everyone needs a touch of Verb.

I had an eye out for this for a while, one popped up at a price I felt couldn't be passed up. In the end after the repair and update and shipping it wasn't quite the deal, but I knew that would happen and the amp turned out killer in the end so all good. Last one in my craw is the Ghia, but I have a smorgasbord of truly exceptional tones on hand already any other amp style is just truly not needed at all.

I'm glad I've got mine. It's sort of a Super Reverb on steroids. All the good with more 'air' to the tone, more swirl to the tone. Love it. I just ordered a 2x10 cab for it. I've been playing through a 1x12 and I think the 10s will sound great.

I think adam may have made one of the fastest transitions from one Z amp to multiple Z amps ever. Way to go!

(mutters to self, "I could cut a baffle for my Z convertible and try one..." )

Nice score on the EZG! I call it my anchor. I'll run two amps a lot of the time. I've found as long as one amp is the EZG, my tone is gonna be stellar.
I really like running it in stereo, along with a M12 or a Jetta.

I plan on running mine (when it gets here) along side the CAZ and switching between the two, EZG for the sweet parts and kicking in the CAZ for some dirt........

That stuff can get so complicated though.

Russell - after I finish the caz one I've been working on forever. The idea behind that one was really I was playing around with some King's X tunes with the CAZ and it just seemed perfect for that stuff, and I just love his tone to begin with. That lead to picking chunks of 10 tunes to show as an example, kind of figuring a couple would come out as duds and maybe they don't all work. Anyway, tracked the drums for that a while ago, all the guitars and bass, then the singer who originally committed to the project, well, I just could never get him over here so got another guy who got through 4 of them, then found another guy to sing the other 6. Then it was adding background vocals of which there are a ton. Finished that last night and have 2 songs mixed so far. Then mix the others, then match those up with the 150 video clips and try to make a nice 7 minute video out of it they really probably most people won't care about. Next one won't be so involved. This one feels like making a record or something, plus the video part.

Adam, Talk about complicated Ha! I didn't think it all the way through. Like I can do the guitar and bass, so how hard is it for everyone else? My doing guitar and bass is like 5% of the total effort. Live and learn.
