I was looking for a new guitar, something different and special. I was thinking about a Ric, and posted about it in the Lounge. After reading what you all said about them and doing a bunch of searching I came across this Duesenberg. I've always liked them, and wasn't aware of a Joe Walsh model. I checked them out and they have some great tone! There is a custom Little Toaster for the bridge and an HSC Single Twin pickup in the neck position. They can chime and rock, lots of good sound in this guitar.
I ordered a Gold Burst one this morning...it should be here by Tuesday. Check out this clip:

I just acquired one! Good tone, easy to play. The nut was grabbing my B and G strings, but was easily fixed. Only issue I have is that the output is much lower than the other humbucker guitars I use. I've set up a boost pedal specifically for this guitar. Other than that, it's the best guitar I have for rhythm playing. Really nice 3D sound playing open chords!

I love D's and will probably have one eventually. I really like that you can get a hollow body, or even a LP style for that matter, with a 25.5 scale. I've come really close a couple times to pulling the trigger and ended up with guitars that are no longer with me. Something tells me had I gotten the Duesenberg I would still have one of them.

It came in this morning and I can't put it down. It may be honeymoon time but guys, I'm telling you this is one terrific guitar. The neck pickup is spectacular, and I don't like neck pickups 'cept on Strats. The bridge pup wails, and in-between is a different sort of tone. Hard to describe, I think it's out of phase. Sounds very cool, but I like playing them apart better so far. It's light, 7lbs 5oz. and comfortable. The neck is really nice too, it's a soft D type and it's not too wide or too narrow. What really blows my mind is the tremolo. It stays in tune like no other non-locking tremolo I've used. The "chime" that I was lusting for out of a Ric is great! Strumming by the bridge is a great rhythm tone. I took some pictures but I've got to upload them before I can post them. The GoldBurst finish is really sweet, it's got very fine metal flake in it, and the pick guard is metal flake too, but it's more pronounced. Duesenberg even gives you a funny package of band-aids that are labelled "If you play till your fingers bleed"...cracked me up. I'm really glad I made the jump and bought this. It's definitely my new #1.

It sounds better than it looks, too! I'm not crazy about the way the middle position sounds though. It's kind of flat, and from what I've seen it will be a simple thing to make a quick change to get that cleared right up.
Apparently the guitar is out of phase in the middle position, and there's a cap installed too which I think is intended to cut bass. While I'm not in love with that, EVERY thing else about the guitar is really perfect. They're PLEK'd right at the factory, and the setup is terrific. And it's compact and LIGHT! 7lbs. 5oz. I really like the neck, and tomorrow or the next day I'll get in there and rewire the mid switch position to make it a little punchier.
There's a video on YouTube that shows what is going on, and how to change it. I'm never planning on selling this instrument so I may as well make it my own!

I’ve owned 2. They both had killer tone, playability and fit/finish. One of them I just fought the tuning and finally sold it. The second one I couldn’t get to go OUT of tune no matter how hard I tried! Couldn’t bond with the aesthetics though so I sold it. Maybe the JW model is more to my liking...
