I had this amp for years and it's never done this (it was just there today) Is sounds like someone is sending morse code in there! Everything works fine, guitar sounds fine; but when it's on, there is an annoying clicking sound.
Tried plugging it in somewhere different - no help...make the sound when nothing is plugged in (not in standby mode)
What do I do - it's loud enough to be a problem...just like Morse code.
HELP PLEASE!!!

Is there a cell phone near the amp? If so, put it in another room or on airplane mode and see if it goes away. Sounds like a cellphone looking for a tower. It's a common problem.

It's definitely not a cell phone. I have a JAZ 20/40 sitting right next to it....sounds fine. I thought it might be the fan, don't know how to tell, but it sounds like it's something electronic?? Any other thoughts guys??

Did you try unplugging the fan?

Does the clicking sound change speed with the Tremolo Speed control?

The trem control doesn't change it?? It does get louder as I turn up volume or master.

He called- walked me thru a bunch of things to try to identify it. It turned out that my Alexa device (sitting on the amp) was causing the issue!! Yes - His amps are enough to ensure loyalty, but you put that kind of care on top and wow. So glad and proud to use DR Z Amps!!

So, was the fix to simply say "Alexa, stop putting digital noises in the Z-Lux." ?

Doc and Don and the rest of the z team are the best. Nothing but great experiences. I’ve talked to them specifically on several occasions and never felt like I was bothering them. I don’t call that often but whenever I’ve needed something they’ve been there.

This issue will likely become more acute with the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT). Soon refrigerators, thermostats, lights, you name it, will become wi-fi emitters and will have the capability to interfere with our rigs if placed too close.

They’ll probably be a market for Faraday cages for tube amps before long 🥴

I think I need new reading glasses, when I saw this thread in the list "clicking sound" looked like "dicking sound" . . . . . I could not imagine what that sound was . . . .

Future homes with overly crowed spectrum space in all rooms may offer no safe haven for tube amps. Future designs may require far more Rf shielding.
